craziness

After a couple months of pulling my hair out,
I am officially working for that home health job.

I've been working there for about a month,
but just barely got on my own.

Right after they hired me,
we realized my CNA license had expired in January.

Usually you just have to send in a form showing that you worked at least 100 hours in a year
and they renew it.

But if you don't do that within 30 days after it's expired,
you have to take the test all over again.
YEAH.
It's $70 to take the test and let me tell you how ridiculous they make this process.

I had to call the Nursing assistant registry to tell them I needed to renew my license.
Because it's been over 30 days I had to retake the test.
SO instead of just paying for it over the phone, or in person,
they make you send the payment in the mail.

That's all the lady I talked to said.
She said to send the payment of $70 in the mail,
and they would send back the list of testing centers and my testing voucher.

So,
I wrote a check and sent it in the mail,
a few days later I received a letter saying that they didn't accept checks.
Call me dumb, but the only other form of payment I knew about through mail was cash.
I didn't want to send $70 cash, but that was all I could think of.
So I sent that.

FINALLY,
even though they called me and said that they don't usually accept cash, but they would this time (this was when I heard about cashiers check...or whatever that's called),
they finally sent me the vouchers.

THEN,
I had to set up a time to take my test.
There were two seperate ones...and the first one wasn't for two weeks and the other one wasn't until two weeks after that.

After taking them both and finally passing them
(Oh yeah..they send the results in the mail too...)
I was able to start my job.

Can I Just say that i absolutely LOVE it?
I don't have co-workers.
It's absolute heaven!
I don't have to deal with rude, inconsiderate people that like to cause problems.

All I need to worry about is making my patients happy.
I love my patients too.
and you wanna know the best of the best part?
The management there is AWESOME!

They, unlike the management at my previous job, don't hunger for control.
They are so awesome and so laid back.
Obviously they would crack down on someone if they weren't performing their job well.
In other words,
If they were receiving negative feedback, or complaints from their patients.

AND they always make sure they show the CNA's appreciation.
They always let the CNA's know that if it wasn't for their hard work,
things would not be going as well.

I gotta say,
I am so so bitter about my last job that I'm really close to writing in to the head of the hospital.
I'm not kidding. I am still so offended and every time I think about it,
I just cannot believe how badly I was treated.

I'm just so glad I was able to get away from them.
I NEVER have to see any of those jerks again!!

My new job is incredible.
I love it and I actually feel like I get to make a difference in someone's life.
These people actually rely on ME to get to bed at night
(since I'm working nights).

I just have to say that I've never found a job more perfect for me.
Especially when i'm a mom.
I work 2- 2/12 hours at the most.
It's so amazing.

If you have someone in your life that is in need of home health or hospice,
let me know and I'll hook you up with the best place around!

****

In other news,
Kali had her Urologist appointment on the 10th.
I know that was a while ago but I am just now finding a few minutes to write it.

Results.
Let's just say I'm a little annoyed that we had to pay $55 dollars for them to tell us what we were told at the very beginning of this whole ordeal.

They are going to put Kali on Antibiotics for a year and test it again.
If she hasn't grown out of it by then,
they are going to do surgery.

She's too little for them to determine whether or not she is going to grow out of it.
They said that a little less thatn 50% of kids do.
So we'll see.

They said that if she get's another UTI before that though,
they will have to do surgery right then.

So...
I'm REALLY paranoid.
Like,
extremely.
This week Kali has had a very very very slight fever.
and she's been really fussy.

SO I took her in.
I really hope she doesn't get another one because I really don't want her to have surgery.
It would be so nice if she just grew out of it.

I would be SOO glad!

***
OH yeah...
Tyson got a $1 raise last week :)

Model Search

I entered Kalista into a model search for a Baby Store.

They win based on how many likes HER PICTURE receives on their Facebook page.
So I have a favor to ask of all of my followers.

Will you PLEASE go HERE and like their page first, (the vote doesn't count unless you're a fan of their page)
and then go to Kali's picture and Like it?

I would be forever grateful.
I am hoping to get to 200 likes!!

5 Months Old Already??

Yes,
Kalista is already five months old!

Photobucket

Although this past month has flown by,
she has progressed a lot!

At 5 months old Kali:
- Has mastered rolling over and shockingly is trying to roll from her back to her tummy. She hates being on her belly so it suprised me that she would do that.

-LOVES playing with her toys and will put almost everything in her mouth.

-Will actually lay on a blanket and play without crying. In otherwords, I can now put her down without her screaming like she is going to die! yay!

-Will always fall asleep if you put her in this position:

Let me elaborate more about this position.
When she is being fussy and is obviously very tired, if I lay her on her belly (which she usually hates her belly so this is even more wierd), with her head facing down in between your legs and pat her back, she'll immediately calm down and fall asleep.
My mom discovered this. It's the funniest thing and I Laugh everytime. It's so wierd.
my daughter is strange. haha

-She is starting to hold her bottle all by herself.

she's pretty much mastered it.
Photobucket

-Is beginning to be more of a mommys girl.

there's times when someone will go to hold her and she'll turn towards me.
I'm not complaining :)

- She is starting to LOVE binkys

- She really likes books and loves it when you read to her.
Photobucket

-Talks and Talks all of the time.

-she is, at least for the past few nights, sleeping through the night.
At least 9 hours.
Then, when she does wake up, she'll take a bottle and go back to sleep for another 4!

-Will try her hardest to sit up when you lay her down, especially in her car seat.

-and I know I mention this a lot, but I'm not kidding when I say she LOVES outside. Utah weather has been really cold lately, but that doesn't stop her!

she's not a fan of her cold weather clothes though...
Photobucket
This is Kali inside.

and this is Kali outside.

I love this baby so much!
She is so much fun and every night that I go to bed,
the thing I look forward to the most is waking up to her talking or yelling for me to come play with her. (this happens when she wakes up for good, after sleeping those extra four hours.)
It's turned me in to a morning person :)

Family Pictures

We had Family Pictures done in August.
Kali was still a super fussy baby at this point, so I'm suprised that they turned out!
Then again,
my incredible friend and roomate from Utah State did them,
so I should have known they would.
We're probably going to do more of our family in a couple of weeks.
We didn't have very much time that day because the sun went down really quickly.

and of course,
my favorite part...

and finally,
My all time VERY favorite one.

Although I really badly wanted to,
I didn't post all of the pictures, Just my top favorites.

Can you tell it was hard to pick?

Mark my words when I say,
you will be seeing some of these pictures in future posts.
(and of course some that I didn't post.)

Medical Bills, I know you can't stay away. But the feeling isn't mutual.

Kali has yet ANOTHER UTI.
The antibiotic she was on,
wasn't helping.

Yeah.
Different Bacteria or something.

On a positive note,
{finally},
There was a cancellation at the urologist and Kali's appointment was moved to October 10th.
Hallelujiah.

Home Sweet Hospital

The last few weeks have been ridiculous to say the least.
I swear it's been just one thing after another.

I have come to the realization that the Hospital is our second home.

Let me start off with explaining why I've been MIA as of late.

Our computer broke.
Sad story. I am so sad about it.
BUT,
We don't want to get a new one until we can get a MAC.

I'm SOOO done with HP.

SO,
We're $300 dollars away from it.

We're trying to sell our 1998 Chevy Lumina.
That will help us get that extra $300 quick!

If you are looking to buy a car,
email me and I'll give you some more info!

It's a great car and runs like a champ.
We just don't need it anymore.

Anyway,
Back to the Hospital stuff.
The day our computer broke,
Tyson cut his finger open.
[Before you go any further, I am posting the picture on here. So if you don't want to see what his poor pinky looked like, scroll past the first pic ;)]

It was about 11:00 P.M when this happened
and when I came downstairs, there was blood all over the bathroom.
[for his sake, I won't go in to detail on how this happened. He would be mad at me. ha]

I almost had a heart attack.
I thought my husband was bleeding to death. haha

Then, when I realized it was his finger,
I calmed down a little...but it still freaked me out!

Anyway,
I had to get Kali out of her Crib and we made a late night trip to the ER.

Now, here are the pictures:

Photobucket
Before the stitches.
After the stitches.

Luckily, Kali slept through the entire visit.
We got home at 3:00 AM and instead of going right to bed,
we had some cleaning up to do.

There was blood EVERYWHERE. haha
Everywhere he went before getting in the car, blood followed.

Anyway,
he ended up getting eight stitches.
and they stitched up the vein that was squirting out all the blood as well ;)
graphic words? Yes.

Not even Five days later,
Kali started getting a fever.
By 5 am, she woke up with a fever of 103.

Hence,
another trip to the ER.

Remember how I said she was really Colicky?
She's not.

They found out in the ER that she had a UTI
 (Urinary Tract Infection)

They sent us on our way with a Prescription for Antibiotics.
within a few days,
Kali was a totally different baby.

She's been so happy and laughs WAY more now.
She only cries when she's tired or Hungry....or going to the bathroom. [more on that later as well]
It's apparant to me that she's had the UTI for WAY longer than she had the fever.

Not gonna lie,
I was feeling really bitter towards her Pediatrician and all the people that were saying she was colicky.
I KNEW there was something else going on. I could tell.
Which is why I kept taking her to the Dr.

Anyway,
a couple of weeks after the ER visit,
(this last tuesday),
Her Pediatrician called and said that the ER told him about her visit and he highly recommended that we go in to Primary Childrens to get her an Ultrasound and X-Ray.

He said 30-50% of the infants that get UTI's have something called Vesicoureteral Reflux,
which happens when Kali pushes to pee, or if she has a full bladder, some of the Urine goes back up to the kidneys, which brings more bacteria into the kidneys and when she gets infection, that can cause even more problems in the kidneys.

So,
BACK to the hospital we go.
Her appointment was yesterday.

They did the Ultrasound and Kali was good until they turned her to her tummy.
she HATES being on her Tummy. She screamed her head off until they were all done.
That was supposed to be the easy part!

Next was the X-Ray.
What they had to do was put in a catheter and insert some Dye into her bladder so that it would show up on the X-ray.
That was supposed to be the part she screamed.
instead,
She was SO good through the entire procedure.
It was then that I realized that Kalista is a TOUGH little girl,
she is just DANG spoiled. haha

Anyway,
the girl explained to me what would happen if she did have reflux.
You would see it draining to her kidneys.

Sure enough,
the second she started to insert the dye,
you could see it moving back up towards the kidneys.

and Kali would not pee it back out.
Poor girl. It hurts her to pee, so she was holding it in.

When the radiologist came in to look at it she explained some more.
They rate the severity between a 1-5.
1 being the lowest where they would just need to give her antibiotics for a while and 5 being where they would need to go in and do surgery.

She said by looking at it right there, it looked like she was at a 3.
She said we would most likely just need to give her an antibiotic for a year and then re-evaluate.

A couple of hours later ,
Her pediatrician called and said the Radiologist had reviewed the X-ray and had decided to move her left Kidney up to a Level 4. Her Right was still at a 3.

So,
he gave us antibiotics and referred us to a Urologist who will determine whether or not she will need surgery or want to do the tests again in a few months.

I'm so nervous.
I've had such mixed emotions.
one minute I'm crying and the next I'm so grateful they caught it early.

My aunt had these same problems when she was little,
they didn't catch it in time and she lost a kidney.
I'm SO grateful they caught it early, I just really am not looking forward to hearing that she'll have to have surgery. The Dr thinks that is most likely what will happen.

How am I going to be able to let them just take my baby, sedate her and cause her pain?
I wish SO MUCH that I could do it for her.

The appointment with the Urologist isn't until October 26th either.
Which means I have almost an entire month to anticipate this.
We just started her on Antibiotics today. I hope those will help her feel better at least.

Kalista is 4 months old!

It's so hard to believe that she's already 4 months old!
I've got mixed emotions here. Sometimes I just want her to stay little FOREVERR.
At 4 months old Kali:
--Loves watching T.V.

Photobucket

Photobucket

--LOVES looking at herself in the mirror

Photobucket
She would do it all day if I let her. at least she knows she's cute right?

--Talks and Coo's all of the time.

--Will play with some of her Toys now

Photobucket

-- LOVES sitting outside.
I don't know if it's the heat, the scenery, the noises, or all three. But she could also do that all day.
It's probably one of the quickest ways to get her to fall asleep too.
If we could, I wouldn't mind sitting out there all day either. :-)
Photobucket

Photobucket

--Falls asleep quicker in a mans arms than she will in a womans.
on the day of her blessing, she was really fussy and I swear everyone was taking her out.
But it was like me or my sisters.

Finally,
Tysons dad took her and walked to the back of the chapel,
within minutes she was sound asleep in his arms.
I wish SO badly we had gotten a picture. It was seriously the sweetest picture ever.

Same thing happens with my dad.
He'll hold her and she will be asleep almost immediately
It's happened more than once.
Photobucket
Tyson is holding her in this picture.
She had been really fussy all day and Tyson came home from work and picked her up and cuddled her on the couch.
She was asleep within minutes.

I loved how she had her hand on his. So I took a picture :)

--Has started rolling over!
She hasn't mastered it yet...but she'll do it if she's in a good mood!
(now is a good time to show you how much she spits up. In this video, you will see four spots on the sheet. This is proof that no matter how much I wash all of our stuff, they will always have spit up marks on them, because she is ALWAYS spitting up! haha )

--HATES her car seat now.
yeah. it's horrible.
She used to LOVE it, but now she'll cry every time we put her in it.
NOT FUN! haha

and Finally,
--She Loves music.
Her favorite thing you can do when you're playing with her is start singing to her.
she just stares at you and smiles.

Which...it's not common that she will stare at one thing for longer than 10 seconds!
She loves songs that have actions to them.

When we're in the car and she is crying,
if we turn up the music, 98% of the time,
she'll stop crying and end up being asleep when we get to our destination :)
