You cannot have Faith without having Hope.

We have some big changes coming in our family and I'm not just referring to a new baby.
Without being too personal since this is, in fact, on the internet,
I need somewhere to share this so that I don't forget it.

We are about to take a big risk as a family.
The biggest risk we've made in our entire marriage and I'm scared!
Mostly because I am such a control freak.
I have such an intense need to control everything in my life,
and with what is about to happen,
I have to let my control go, and put more faith in my husband.

Tyson is an incredible husband and I trust him more than anyone else.
However, because of my personality, it's hard for me to just let go and not have an incredible anxiety attack in the process.

I've been praying, getting advice from others, reading scriptures and reading talks on lds.org to help me with this and while I was reading a talk by elder H. Bruce Stucki of the seventy, I came across the scripture Moroni 7:33

33 And Christ hath said: If ye will have faith in me ye shall have power to do whatsoever thing is expedient in me.

and then I kept reading:

37 Behold I say unto you, Nay; for it is by faith that miracles are wrought; and it is by faith that angels appear and minister unto men; wherefore, if these things have ceased wo be unto the children of men, for it is because of unbelief, and all is vain.

39 But behold, my beloved brethren, I judge better things of you, for I judge that ye have faith in Christ because of your meekness; for if ye have not faith in him then ye are not fit to be numbered among the people of his church.
40 And again, my beloved brethren, I would speak unto you concerning hope. How is it that ye can attain unto faith, save ye shall have hope?
41 And what is it that ye shall hope for? Behold I say unto you that ye shall have hope through the atonement of Christ and the power of his resurrection, to be raised unto life eternal, and this because of your faith in him according to the promise.
42 Wherefore, if a man have faith he must needs have hope; for without faith there cannot be any hope.
I'm so grateful because I feel like this has helped me so much.
Tyson was talking to me a few months ago about how faith and hope go hand in hand and these scriptures reminded me of what we talked about.

I've been such a pessimist about this new path we are taking.
I have been so convinced and certain that something will go wrong,
what we are talking about is too good to be true,
and have had a hard time believing that the good that will come of this is really going to happen.

I've played through every worst case scenario in my head and focused on those and stressed and stressed about them.

After reading these scriptures tonight,
I have realized that I need to have more hope.
I need to give my worries and stresses to the Lord,
and I need to have more faith that it's going to work out.

It's going to be SO hard to do,
But I know it will be good for me

plus,
it will be a great learning experience regardless of the outcome.

New Job

Our lives have been so crazy these last couple of weeks.

It all started a couple of months ago though.
Tyson had been contemplating about whether or not being in the HVAC business was really something he wanted to do as a career or not.

He went back and forth A LOT.
He talked about multiple different things and just couldn't decide.
One day though we were talking about it and we came to conclusion number one:

Whether he wants to go back to school to do something else,
or stay in Refrigeration and hopefully one day maybe start his own business,
he needed to make more money.

What he was making at the time, met our needs EXACTLY.
We weren't struggling to pay our bills,
but we also weren't making enough to put really anything in savings...and that's if he was working overtime EVERY. SINGLE. WEEK.

I would get frustrated because there would be times where I'd see him maybe 4 hours in a WEEK,
yet the money he was making would go right towards bills and we wouldn't get to have any to save or play with.  My husband needs a break man!!!

Also, if he wanted to go back to school, he wouldn't be able to work overtime which would mean we'd need a way to make up for the difference in income.

So after a lot of talking about it,
we decided that him finding another job that paid him better would be best.
Incredibly (but not surprisingly. My husband is kind of amazing.)
the first place he went to, he got and interview and the job right on the spot.

Not only that but the pay was significantly higher.
He wouldn't have to work overtime and we would STILL have money to put in savings.
we are so excited!

Unfortunately,
his current employer didn't respond to him in the way he'd hoped.
He really wanted to maintain a good relationship with them because they taught him so much.
He really appreciated all he'd learned from them, but when it came down to it, he needed more money.  His current employer wasn't willing to provide that so he had to find someone that would.  It was honestly a nightmare getting away from that job.  They did some pretty shady and unprofessional things to him which ended up with him deciding to leave that job earlier than he'd planned.

Honestly,
he didn't deserve to be treated the way they were treating him simply because he was leaving.  It wasn't anything personal towards them...he's just trying to make an honest living!

So he went a whole week without work while his new job got everything together for him...which drove him crazy. haha

He could not wait to go back to work.
His first day was yesterday and he came home in the best mood he's ever been in after work.
He LOVES this new job.

We are SO excited for this new opportunity and I'm so so grateful for a husband that would do anything to provide for his family. He really is the hardest worker.  I love him so much!!

UPDATE!!

It's been so hard to stay updated the past few months.

Our computer is pretty much trash and using it is one of the most frustrating things to even try to work with.

So I've currently hijacked my mothers computer to give a quick update.

 photo 122612142253.jpg

Kali is now 20 months old.
I realized a few days ago that in just 4 months she's going to be 2!!
This girl is growing up so fast!

 photo IMG_20121224_185306.jpg

Her talking is excelling so quickly.
I really don't think I'm going to be able to remember everything that she is saying, but she's beginning to speak in like 2-3 words sentences. Mostly reapeating what we say!

She says: mommy, daddy, oma, opa, Kay-kee (for Kaitlyn), Em, Bree-Bree, Dall (for Dallin), Casey, Jo (Joey), Gama, Gapa,  no, yes, okay, I love you, more, some, sippy, bye bye, amen, night night, seesee (for lucy my parents dog), puppy, doggy (we just got a dog...more about that in a minute), bath time, potty, poopy, nom noms, yeah yeah yeah (singing a song), HI STINKY (in the most excited voice ever. haha), Thank you, please, sorry, sissy, hayee (Hayleigh), baby and much more!

 photo IMG_20130120_204116.jpg

She is so dang funny. She makes us laugh every day, all the time.
She is getting mostly better at listening and she loves being the center of attention.
I just love her little personality SOO MUCH!!

I'm currently 18 weeks prego and besides epic heartburn and extreme fatigue,
I'm feeling pretty great.

I still throw up every once in a while,
but all in all I'm feeling good.

We have our 20 week appointment/ultrasound on monday
(we'll be 19 weeks by then)
and we're super excited for that!

Not much more to report there.
haha

Last week,
my husband called me.

He said that his coworker called and that his sister was looking for a home for her dog.
She was moving into an apartment that didn't allow pets.

He's a 4 month old chiuahuah (sp?).

Tyson and I previously agreed that since it didn't work out with our last dog milly
*sniff* (we had to give her away just weeks after getting her)
that we wouldn't get another dog until we were 100% about keeping it and until we had a fence.

So believe me when I say that I was NOT for getting him at all.
I was against it.

But after much begging,
I finally agreed.

So now we have a dog.
that I have to potty train.
while getting ready for a new baby.

haha.
awesome.

 photo 011613113632.jpg

He is pretty cute though...
we have to stick this one out though.
It was our agreement.

blagh.

Anyway,
that's about it for now!!

Funny Story ;)

A few weeks ago,
Tyson and I went to a Halloween party.
It was there that I began to realize that I was more on edge than normal.

When we were in the car on the way home,
My poor husband was bugging me.
For no reason at all.

He wasn't saying anything that would put me on the defensive,
he was in fact, in a good mood and was attempting to talk to me about the party.
I wasn't feeling very well, but that didn't have anything to do with why I was so on edge.

I tried my very best to not show him my annoyance to everything around me,
and when we got home, despite my nausea, I immediately left for work.
I was working a graveyard shift that night and had to be there by midnight.

As I was leaving our neighborhood I began really thinking about what was going on.
Although, in the past 3 weeks, I'd taken 5 pregnancy tests
(we started trying for a baby last month),
I decided I might as well stop at Smiths and grab a pregnancy test.

I was going to be a little early to work anyway and maybe that would help me understand why I was feeling this way!

After purchasing the pregnancy test,
I decided to just try to take one before heading back to work.

SO,
I went into the bathroom and attempted a test.

WELL,
I didn't need to urinate because I had gone before I left my house.
haha. Despite my efforts I only was able to produce a few drops...which unfortunately left me with a pregnancy test that I was sure I had wasted.

Since I had two tests,
I just decided I would wait until later that night to take the last one.
I put the one I'd convinced I'd ruined back in it's wrapper and into the box and headed to work.

While sitting at a stoplight,
I decided I might as well see if the test had showed any results at all because MAYBE it hadn't registered any and I could still use it.
(I know..I'm weird..haha)

So I took the test out of the wrapper and to my complete and utter shock,
there was a clear + sign...

I began laughing hysterically because there was NO WAY that small amount of urine could produce a positive result. NO WAY!

So I called my good friend Andi, who had just had a baby herself and told her the story.
She insisted that there's no way you can get a false positive and that I was indeed pregnant.

I couldn't believe it!

I couldn't wipe the smile off my face because I really was convinced that I wasn't pregnant after the 5 negative tests I'd received!

A few hours after getting to work,
I had to use the restroom again so I took the second test and I'm not even kidding it didn't even take 30 seconds for that + sign to show up on the test yet again!

I was freaking out!!
I was so excited! haha.
It was now a Sunday morning and I couldn't WAIT to tell Tyson!!
There was no way I'd be able to keep it a secret for longer than 5 minutes after walking through our door so I came up with a plan before I got home.

I took Kali and had her color on a piece of paper.
THEN,
I helped her write the words

"Guess what Daddy?!
I'm going to be a big sister"

on the paper and I had her give it to him.

Here's his response...

So I'm 9 weeks now and although I've been really sick, I haven't thrown up yet which is a record!
This pregnancy has been significantly different than the last two.

The last two I was throwing up from about 6 weeks until about 35 weeks.
I would be able to eat and when I craved stuff, I would really really want it, but I could eat other things as well.

THIS pregnancy,
I've been sick all day long, but I have yet to throw up.
I crave one or two specific things every day and those are the only things I can eat.
Anything else, and I mean ANYTHING else, makes me dry heave to just think about being around.
My senses are WAYY more heightened this time than they were with the other two.
I can't stand the smell of my house. like, even if it's the scent in our scentsy. BLEGH.
As of yesterday, I decided we are no longer cooking food in our house until my morning sickness is gone. I can't even go near the kitchen without dry heaving at the smell of what was just recently cooked...
haha but all I have to say is I'm not throwing up so that's good for me!!

My ten week Dr appointment is November 18th (I'll be pretty much 11 weeks by then by that's the earliest they can get me in!!)

We're so so excited to be parents of 2!
and I'm excited to see how Kali will do with a sibling :)

14 Days of Valentines

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY!! <3

We had such an incredible, unforgettable day.
It was by far the all time best Valentines day yet!

Here is Kalista in her cute little Love Day Attire:

and her doing her modelesque pose.
Yes she did this by herself.

She is at the stage where she refuses to look at the camera no matter what I do!
haha
I woke up on the Morning of Valentines day and came upstairs to this lovely, awesome, incredible suprise:

Roses, Chocolates, the sweetest card ever written, and a 1 hour massage at massage envy!
mmmm...I'm getting that massage tomorrow!

My husband knows EXACTLY what I need.
I love that man SOO very much.
***

When I started trying to decided what to get Tyson for Valentines day, I came across many different 14 days of Valentines day gifts and decided this was the perfect idea.

I found a lot of different ones as I searched the internet.

However,
I didn't want to do just one of them,
so I decided that I was going to work up some ideas in my little head and combine some I found/come up with some of my own.

So here was my Valentines day Gift to Tyson:

Day 1
Tyson and I wrote each other while he was on his mission.
I typed some of my letters to him, because I really can't stand my handwriting and I was also able to write them faster. I was busy and knew I was already slacking as it was...so I just typed his letters.
Come to find out,
He hated when I did that.

He didn't feel it was as personal if it was typed.
So for his first gift,
I wrote him a short and sweet letter about how much I appreciated everything he does for Kali and me.

I hate my handwriting.

(best picture I could get on my phone)

Day 2
For the second day,
I taped a [typed] note to our front door so that Tyson would see it when he got home.

Unfortunately,
I forgot to take a picture of this one,

but it said that once he walked in the door,
he wasn't allowed to do anything but relax.

He couldn't talk or even think about work.
I told him that if it took Kali and I leaving and him having the house to himself in order for him to relax,
we could do that.

Apparantly it's hard for him to relax,
because he kept trying to do things that involved work.
and he wouldn't let us leave.
He decided he wanted to go to a movie with his brother and some friends.

Unfortunately they couldn't do it until the next day,
so we spent that night together and he went out with the guys the next day.
(But I still wouldn't let him do an ounce of work)

Day 3
I made him cupcakes!

Day 6
A valentines day themed lunch

Two heart shaped PB&J's
Strawberries
4 heart shaped cakes
Doritos (the pinkest chip I could think of..haha)
and pink Lemonade in a pink thermos :):)

Day 7
I made my Valentine a Homemade Valentine :)

Day 8
He has really needed chapstick lately and he kept mentioning it,
So...

Day 9
Since the day we got our car,
Tyson has made it a goal to make sure he cleans the in and outside of the car every weekend.

A few weeks ago,
he mentioned that he wanted to buy all the supplies needed to clean the outside of the car,
so that he didn't have to go to the carwash every weekend,

PLUS,
it would save us money in the long run.

SO....

Day 15
I found him a movie that I knew he would like,
and made a movie night out of it.

Day #11
We had been planning on taking Kali to the Rec. Center all week. We were going to go on Saturday.
It was going to be her first time and I was SO excited because I knew she was going to love it
(which she did!)

Tyson had mentioned when talking about it earlier in the week that his swimsuit no longer fit him.
I was so glad he mentioned it,
because that's what I got him for day #11

He looked DANG good in this swimsuit too.
If I don't say so myself!

Day 12
The note says:
"It's day #12 and just so you know...we were mint to be together"
Uploaded from the Photobucket Android App
haha I'm good huh?
...kidding.
(Sorry it's not a very good picture. These were all taken with my phone)

Day 13
His Favorite candybar is Snickers,
so I HAD to figure out a way to incorporate that into a day.

Because I'm not the most CREATIVE person in the world,
this was the best I came up with!

"I thought I should let you know on day 13, that sometimes your "Extra" hot body makes me "Snicker" with delight!"
Uploaded from the Photobucket Android App
haha!

Day 14
This is obviously the day I spent the most time preparing for.
I was so stressed out that something would go wrong!

But besides a few minor issues that didn't really matter,
It turned out PERFECT!
I brought Kali to my parents house around 3:00 where my sister agreed to Tend her over night.
Then I went home and immediately began preparing.
I SERIOUSLY had to learn some made double tasking skills,
and I gotta say,
I think I did a pretty good job!
I quickly changed in to some Lingerie I bought specifically for this occasion ;)
dressed up for him and got to work.
I made Sweet and Spicy Pork,
a recipe I got out of a magazine,
Black Bean Salad,
Homemade rolls that are supposed to taste like Texas Roadhouse's Rolls,
and Homemade Cinnamon Honey Butter which was also supposed to taste like Texas Roadhouse.

I topped it off with Welch's Sparkling Grape Juice.
(his favorite)

I turned on some romantice love music,
turned down the lights,
lit some candles,
and
WAH LAH!

Uploaded from the Photobucket Android App
Uploaded from the Photobucket Android App
(lights were on for this picture)
The pork is missing in this picture, because it was still in the oven!

It turned out SOO good!
It was delish! seriously. I really recommend it for a nice dinner.

(I'll post the recipe at the end of this post :))

Tyson got home JUST as the Pork was about done.
Seriously PERFECT timing.

We had such a good dinner,
and spent the rest of the night together,
topping of the evening with a last minute, late night movie "The Vow"
which was SO good I highly recommend it.

It really was such a romantic wonderful day.
It went perfectly. I was so happy with the way everything went.

We actually were able to spend time together. It was heavenly.

If you've never heard of the 14 days of Valentines day,
look up some of them on Google or try something like this one.

You won't be disappointed with the outcome ;)

Now for the delish recipe.

(For the texas roadhouse rolls/honey butter, you can find those on my pinterest! )

Sweet and Spicy Pork with Black Bean Salad

First Visit to the Zoo!

Today we decided to take Kali to the zoo.I was SO excited to take her and I wasn't disappointed when we went.

Seriously,
the Zoo is fun when you're a kid,
but watching how excited your OWN Kid gets when you go...
is so much better :)

She loved it.
and so did we!

Neither Tyson or I have been to the Zoo in a really long time.
It seriously is amazing to see some of those animals up close.

The greatest part was seeing Kali so mesmerized by the animals.
She liked them all,
but her favorite by FAR was the monkeys.

Every time we saw one,
she would stare at them forever as they would hang and jump from branch to branch.
We spent most of our time watching them.

They are pretty incredible.
It's awesome to see what they can do.

Here she is in action with one of her little new found friends:

Christmas/New Year

First off,
Happy New Year!!
Last year was great,
the best part being the birth of our Beautiful Kali.

Now to making it another great year to remember!
Christmas was so fun!
definitely one of the best Christmases ever!

It all started with Kali's first Visit to Santa!
She absolutely LOVED him.
I was so happy to see her enjoy him so much.

When we first put her on his lap,
she just stared at him...
then she looked over  at us and began smiling really big!

Uploaded from the Photobucket Android App
Complete with holding his fingers and all ;)
I sure love her.
Next was the Pixton Christmas party.
(Tyson's moms family)
Santa was there as well,
but I don't have a picture :(

I do Have Kali in her cute santa outfit though :)

The month went on with,
My sister coming home for the Holidays from Texas!
We got together right after she got here,
and made chocolate covered Cake bites!

mmm...
so Delish.

Then on to the rest of the partys...

we ended up at the Car Dealership...
and Tyson bought me my Christmas present!

You have no idea how much I love this car!
Christmas was so much fun with Kali!
We had to wake her up early,
because we were going to my parents house for breakfast.

Here's how much Santa spoiled this child...

She had so much fun!

The presents didn't stop there though...
We went to my parents house,
and she was overwhelmed with gifts there as well.

This was my favorite of the gifts they gave her.

This horse sings and prances.
It's so cute.

My little sister also gave her a really cute santa dressed monkey.
That was my other favorite,
but I forgot to take a picture :S

Dustin, Andrea and Avery came over the day after Christmas,
and gave Kali 4 of the Original Christmas Classic movies.

I can't WAIT until she gets into movies more,
because I LOVED those growing up.

They also gave us a gift card to Zupas, which we used that day.
haha

Anyway.
We had an INCREDIBLE Christmas!

I can't end without saying that I'm so grateful for the birth of Our Savior.
He's the real meaning of Christmas and I really felt the Spirit this year.
It was a wonderful month.

***

We just kept it low key for new years eve.
We spent the Evening with my parents with Pizza, Games and Movies.

Tyson and I made a New years Resolution this year that we started immediately.
We want to lose weight.

We're doing Isogenix.
It's SO tough,
but as long as I keep my eye on the prize,
I think I'll make it.

Tyson is doing way better than me :)

I'm going to make another 101 goals in 1001 days as well.
I failed miserabely with the one I was doing on my other blog.

But I WILL do better with this one :)

That post to come...

Surgery.

So,
Kali's surgery was Tuesday.

We woke up that morning to a happy girl [like always],
Smiling and cooing, talking to us both.

We got ready for the day,
knowing that we had to be to PCMC by noon.

We tried to keep her comfortable,
while distracting her from the fact that she could not have anything to eat until after surgery.
I packed all of the things we would need,
and we headed out the door to the Hospital.

I talked with Tyson a bit on the way there about how,
even though her pediatrician said that her surgery was simple and only involved inserting a catheter and letting out small beads,
The paperwork I got in the mail,
that I had only read the day before (oops),
said that they were doing an incision.

I was a little bit worried,
but not too much because I was just going to believe what an actual person told me,
not some dumb paper.

When we arrived,
we sat in the waiting room for them to do Kali's checkup to make sure she was healthy for the surgery.
She was peacefully asleep while we waited.
I just kept thinking that the poor girl had no idea what was about to happen.

When they called her name,
we had to wake her up while they weighed her, checked her,
and gave us a gown to change her in.
Uploaded from the Photobucket Android App

Uploaded from the Photobucket Android App
Afterwards,
The nurse walked us to another waiting room,
where we'd wait until it was time for her to go back.

We waited there while I cuddled and kissed the heck out of her
and she played with her Daddy...
(who obviously is a lot less annoying. haha)

Uploaded from the Photobucket Android App

and before we knew it,
her Urologist was walking up to us.

She began explaining the procedure to us.
This is where I learned that they were,
indeed,
doing an incision.

I wasn't happy about it to say the least,
and pretty upset about the fact that no one told me this until now!
After she finished explaining everything,
she left and the anesthesiologist came in.

He told us that he was going give her a mask to put her to sleep,
then do what they call a Cottle (which is similar to an epidural)
to help numb the area so that she wouldn't be in pain when she woke up.
That is when they would insert the I.V.,
and give her a breathing tube as well as a catheter.

When he was done explaining everything to us,
he walked us back to the furthest point we could go.
I didn't want to let go of my baby. I was holding back tears.
She was a little fussy and us both kissing her wasn't helping that.

Then,
After giving myself a silent pep talk,
I handed her over to the anesthesiologist,
a guy I had just barely met,
who I knew was going to take her to a group of people,
Who would cause her pain..
(Deep down I knew it was for the best, but at a time like this,
all I could think about was how much I despised everything about the situation)

I watched as he turned the corner with my daughter in his arms
and the last thing I saw was her grabbing at his mask.

That is when I burst into tears.
It was hard to hold back and honestly,
I could have cried a lot harder than I did...
I was still holding it in a WHOLE bunch!

Tyson was incredible through all of this.
He is my rock and held me while I cried.
We were then led to yet another waiting room.
I couldn't hold it in for very long so we quickly decided to go for a walk.

We ended up going to our car,
and I cried while we prayed for comfort and Kali's safety.

We then walked hand in hand back to the waiting room
where we waited for two hours until finally
the Urologist came in and told us everything went well.

10 minutes later,
they called for us and said that only one of us could go back to the ICU to see her.
She had just woken up.
Tyson let me.
again, I love him SO MUCH.
He asked me to send him a picture...

and this was the only one I could take before picking her up and trying to comfort my poor baby who had no idea what was going on.
Her whole face seemed so swollen and her was cry the most heartbreaking thing I've ever heard.
She seemed miserable.

Here's the battle wound.
I don't know if you can see them both but she will have both of those tubes coming out of her for a week. It's how she pees for now.

Very shortly after this,
We were moved to the room we would be staying in for the remainder of our stay.
That is when we met with Tyson.

(This girl ROCKED at her job. I loved her. She was my favorite CNA there by far.)

Once we got some food into Kali's belly...which took forever since she couldn't eat right after,
She began acting very close to her normal self.

She even sat up, played with some toys and smiled a little!
I was so happy that she seemed okay.

...Then,
about an hour later,
her Cottle began to wear off.
Even though she had Toradol AND Oxycodone,
she still seemed in pain.

Her cry was crushing me.
Her voice was gone too because of the breathing tube and it killed me to see her that way.

After holding her, while rocking her in the chair and singing her some songs...
she finally fell asleep.

After about 10 minutes,
I decided to try to lay her in the crib.

She stayed asleep for about a minute.

Then woke right up.
She had a very difficult night.

I eventually,
put her in her stoller and we seriously walked around the entire hospital...
then when we got back to our room,
she fell asleep.

She slept that way in the stroller for half the night,
then woke up and after another couple hours of rocking, coaxing and trying to get her to sleep,
she spent the rest in the crib.

I probably had 3 hours of sleep.
Kali maybe had 5 or 6?

They almost kept us there another night because of how fussy she was,
but that morning she made up for it and was in such a good mood.
We ended up leaving around 4:00 pm.

The next night went pretty well.
She only woke up twice.
(usually she doesn't wake up at all, but considering the circumstances,
she did awesome).

Last night however,
was a different story and it's been like this ever since.

She was awake a good majority of the night.
I had to rock her and tickle her back until she fell asleep.
She was sleeping with us because she would wake up if one of us wasn't touching her.

But by about 3 am...
she wouldn't go back to sleep.
She was kicking us both.
HARD for an almost 7 month old btw.
ha.

She has been SO tired all day because of that,
but again,
she won't sleep unless we're touching her.

Hence,
this picture...

She's been rubbing her eyes,
and acting so tired,
but will NOT fall asleep unless she's touching us.

Tyson had her sitting on the floor and was trying to talk to her...
and she put her head on his..and was asleep almost instantaneously.
Poor girl.

I hope she starts feeling better cause it's killing me to see her so sick.
